History

1959 - Portman Travel Founded

Portman Travel was founded over 50 years ago in 1959.  Since this time Portman Travel's growth has been attributed to both organic growth and acquisition.

1988 - AA Travel

In 1988 Portman Travel acquired AA Travel.

1992 - RADIUS

In 1992 Portman Travel became a founding partner of RADIUS, the world's largest global travel company, enabling Portman to offer our clients a full range of travel services from more than 3,600 locations in 80 countries. For any travel service that needs to be delivered locally, we can call on the local RADIUS partner, who will then act on our behalf, providing the same quality of service as we provide in the UK.

1998 - John Cory Travel

Portman acquired John Cory Travel, the largest Welsh independent travel management company.

2003 - Travelforce

Portman acquired Travelforce, a well respected and successful independent operating in London and the Thames Valley.

2006 - P&O Travel

In October 2006, Portman Travel acquired the business of P&O Travel. The acquisition consolidated Portman Travel's position as the UK's largest independent travel management consultancy, increasing the size of its business by around 30 per cent. The acquisition has benefited customers by combining the Portman Travel, P&O and RADIUS partnership into a larger UK entity.

2008 - Fleet Street Travel

In February 2008, Portman Travel acquired Fleet Street Travel. This latest acquisition reinforces Portman Travel's position as the leading independent travel management company and strengthens the Portman Travel network of specialist business travel centres in major towns and cities across the UK.

Today

Portman Travel has consolidated its position as a top 6 travel management company, with an annual turnover of over £300 million and the UK's largest network of 17 offices stretching from Aberdeen to London. Additionally Portman has offices in Ireland and the Netherlands.
