Portman Travel Glasgow Honoured at SPAA Awards

11 November 2011

PORTMAN TRAVEL, one of the UK's leading travel management companies, is pleased to announce that Portman Travel Glasgow was presented with 'Best UK Business Travel Agent' at the annual SPAA (Scottish Passenger Agents' Association) Awards.

The 19th SPAA Awards were held on 3 November 2011 at Glasgow's Thistle Hotel with BBC presenter Bryan Burnett overseeing proceedings before an audience of 460 representatives from the Scottish travel sector.

Travel industry suppliers were asked to vote for the best UK Business Travel Agent office. The voters were asked to consider staff professionalism, support given to suppliers and the appearance of the nominees' premises.

With travel management offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh, a specialist services office in East Kilbride, in addition to a central administration centre in Motherwell, Portman Travel is well represented in Scotland. There are around one hundred and fifty Portman employees in Scotland, with the award winning team of fourteen dedicated, business travel professionals based at Glasgow's West Campbell Street.

Portman Travel's, Scotland-based, Senior Vice President Operations John Dick said: "I am delighted for the Portman Glasgow office staff whose work with suppliers has been recognised with this award. Our commitment to Scotland and our clients based here is stronger than ever."

"At Portman Travel we are proud of our Scottish roots as the company originated in Scotland more than fifty years ago as Motherwell Bridge.  We will continue to build on our success, as recognised by SPAA."

Portman Travel has recently expanded its Scottish team with the launch of Portman Club, a newly formed team of experts based in East Kilbride specialising in travel services for companies with smaller travel budgets. The company's other specialist units: Portman24 - round the clock care; Portman Medical - Portman's repatriation service for clients taken ill abroad; Executive Events - for conferences or team building activity for senior management and Executive Leisure - Portman's bespoke holiday travel service are also all based in East Kilbride.
